Rheinard opens new ETS season with Czech win

Marc Rheinard has won the opening round of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series in the Czech Republic.  The Tamiya driver claimed the victory with a win in the third A-Main over Ronald Volker and Bruno Coelho, that also being the final order they would step on the podium in Hrotovice.  After the thrilling last lap finish to A1, in which reigning champion Volker snatched the win from the Top Qualifier, A2 & 3 would be more straight forward for Rheinard despite Volker’s best efforts.  An event that has been won each season by the champion elect, the win is a major boost for Rheinard and Tamiya in their ongoing quest to win back the title. Last winning the race in 2009/10, the race has since been the reign of Volker & Yokomo in their run of five consecutive championship titles. With the bonus point for TQ and his 14th ETS win, Rheinard travels to Round 2 in German in February, where he took his only win last year, with maximum Championship points.          TAKEN FROM RED RC 

Ryan cavaleri doubles

Ryan Cavalieri doubles at Top Gun Shootout

The 4th annual Top Gun Shootout was held at SDRC in San Diego, California with just under 200 entries. In the premier class of 2WD Modified Buggy Team Associated’s Ryan Cavalieri would grab the TQ and also the win in the A-mains from 2015 IMFAR 2WD Buggy World Champion Spencer Rivkin. Fellow Team Associated driver Christian Toic rounded out the podium result in 3rd. In the 4WD Modified Buggy class it was again Ryan Cavalieri who came out fastest after the qualifiers and just like in the 2WD class he was able to conserve his qualifying performance to bring home the title from Spencer. Tyler Hicks in third would round out the all Team Associated podium. Elsewhere in the Racing Truck class Brent Thielke would grab the overall win from Kevin Kimberly and Reed Harper.          TAKEN FROM RED RC 

MALİN KARLSEN TEAMS UP WİTH G-force

Malin Karlsen teams up with G-Force

G-Force have announced the signing of Sweden’s Malin Karlsen to their team. The young lady already has a pretty remarkable CV following a successful racing year with the 4WD title in the Swedish national series, the Swedish 2WD and 4WD Junior title and an overall 28th place in the 4WD class at the 2015 IFMAR Worlds in Japan. In the coming year Malin will use the company’s chargers, power supplies and other accessories and she has the following to say about the deal:

I’m excited to have been signed to the G-Force Factory Team and can’t wait to start using their product line of chargers, power supplies, tyre warmers and corner weights. After the initial tests with the G-Force products I’m confident they will be a great asset to help me accomplish my goals for the upcoming 2016 season. Niceee new rear hubs for RC8B3

Team Associated RC8B3 Factory Team rear hubs

Team Associated have introduced the Factory Team aluminium rear hubs for the RC8B3 and RC8B3e buggies. These hubs include inserts for adjusting the axle height with the lowest setting will make turns easier to drive through, though slower whereas the highest setting will make the buggy turn more quickly. The kit universal axles will fit the Factory Team rear hubs with the addition of the optional 8x16x5mm bearings set and the hub inserts are also sold separately for spares and repair.

Ronald Volker TQ’d the opening qualifier of Season #9 of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series, the Yokomo driver seeing off arch rival Marc Rheinard, the pair having swapped the top spot on the time screens throughout the encounter.  Separated by just 2/10ths, the German’s pace left them well clear of Alexander Hagberg, a clean run leaving the Swede third fastest as many of the drivers in the top heat made mistakes.  One driver to benefit from these mistakes was pre-race favourite Viljami Kutvonen, who running in the second fastest heat, would get a fourth for the first of the four scheduled rounds of qualifying     TAKEN FROM RED RC

Team Associated RC8B3 FT CVA driveshafts

New from Team Associated come Factory Team CVA driveshafts for the RC8B3 and RC8B3e. They can be used as a tuning option to the universals that come standard in the kits as the CVA assemblies will provide a more aggressive steering feeling, perfect for use on smoother track surfaces. They include steel axles from standard but the an optional aluminium axle can be used for further adjustment to minimise both rotating and unsprung mass, giving an even more aggressive steering feeling and quicker acceleration; ideal for smooth tracks with high-grip levels. Serpent is celebrating their 35th anniversary, first established in 1980. Founded in Heemstede, near the city and track which hosted the 1989 IFMAR 1/8 Onroad World Championship, and still serves as Serpent’s test grounds. The Serpent brand started its success in 1/8 onroad racing, and now covers nearly every onroad and offroad class of racing there is to cover with a lineup of 30+ vehicles, and more to come.

Serpent has played a large role in developing new classes, such as the 1/10 235mm class and 200mm GP class (both of which Serpent has won IFMAR World Championship titles in). 2016 will see another four World Championship events in which Serpent drivers will compete.

Later this month Serpent will introduce the Serpent Viper 977 35th Anniversary Limited Edition, as part of the celebrations. Only 350 special units will be made, and number 001 will be auctioned on ebay for charity, for the organization “Right-to-Play” . The 001 kit will also have an exclusive 35th Anniversary tool-set, laser-engraved with 35th Anniversary logo. More details on this Limited Edition and Aunction to follow.

Motiv RC 3D-printed Fan Stand

Motiv RC have introduced their new Fan Stand, a mount designed to be a guard for the exposed motor fan blades. Its more important purpose though is to give the fan a larger and flat foot print so it can easily be secured to the chassis anywhere using double sided tape. The 3D-printed unit is tailor made for the Motiv HV Super Fan but will work in conjunction with any 30×30 fan.

Team Associated have release their next generation of 1:10 scale 4WD electric touring car, the RC10TC7 FT, the prototype of which swept the podium at the 2015 ROAR Paved On-Road Nationals. Coming packed full of Factory Team options and a refined suspension package with precise adjustments, the result is an unequalled level of consistency. The focus was on a more precise feel with updates in suspension component composites and ultra-smooth FOX shocks with Genuine Kashima Coat. The floating servo controls an updated dual bellcrank steering system with a low centre of gravity and refined Ackermann range, which allows the most direct steering feeling for any track condition. Panik Grand Prix – Announcement

Following the overwhelming response to their revised track, the Panik Team Troisdorf club teamed up with Tonisport to announce the first ever Panik Grand Prix. Scheduled for the weekend of the 12th of June 2016 the race will be held on the club’s flowing yet technical astroturf track near the Cologne Airport. The event will adapt the EOS rules and entries will be limited to 100 drivers for 2WD, 80 for 4WD and 20 for Mod Truck respectively. LİBAR WİNS THE 1/12 AT MRCL Winter Series RND2

Last weekend’s second round of the MRC Longwy Winter Series not only saw the running of Modified and 10.5T Touring classes but also 1/12th scale racing. Jacques Libar would grab the overall TQ in the 10-car field some 1.7 seconds in front of Marc Schilling, with Krist Bultynck completing the top 3 one lap down. In the triple A-mains Marc would come out fastest in the opening leg but commanding wins in A2 and A3 handed Jacques the overall victory from Marc and Krist in second and third respectively. Serpent Eryx 4.0 touring car kit – Teaser

Coming soon from Serpent is the Eryx 4.0 electric touring car kit. The latest incarnation of the 411 platform will feature big bore shock absorbers and new shock towers, it becomes available with a 2mm aluminium or 2.25mm carbon chassis and the kit utilises a redesigned motor mount, smart mid-shaft pulley system and updated differential gears as well as an adjustable battery mount made up from carbon fibre and aluminium. Factory RC D413 carbon fiber upgrades

Factory RC is happy to announce their latest “Factory” upgrades for the HotBodies D413. Starting with the Bolt “Polarity” battery strap, this is a 3mm carbon fiber material with their new “bolt” logo with machined polarity marks in the strap to help you identify the proper connection orientation. Simply flip the brace to match your batteries bullet connection output, done.

Next up is the Bolt Rear Camber Plate which includes additional mounting holes and the new “bolt” logo as well. 3mm carbon fiber material shaves weight from the stock part adding performance.

Last but not least is their Bolt Center Diff Plate. Continuing with the “Bolt” logo theme milled right into the center diff plate. 3mm carbon fiber material milled to clear all the stock parts while providing a smooth top using the included 3×10 FH screws for that “Factory” look.

Avid add colour to their wing buttons & wheel nuts

Avid have their 1/10th wing buttons and Triad M4 wheel nuts available in three new colours of green, orange and pink. The wing buttons are ideal for both off-road and on-road cars thanks to their large contact surface that prevents the wing from excessively bend under heavy loads. The parts sport laser-etched Avid logos and they fit almost every touring car wing on the market and several off-road vehicles that use M3 wing mounting screws. As for the wheel nuts, the Triad M4 are ideal for virtually every modern 1/10th scale vehicle, they use common 7mm wheel wrenches and weigh in at 0.3g each. They are serrated to ensure they stay in place even in demeaning racing conditions and like the wing buttons they come in the new colours of green, orange and pink.

NEW TEAM DRİVER FROM SERPENT

Serpent have announced the signing of Lehua Lin to their team. The Chinese driver is considered an off-road expert with his best achievements so far being A-main appearances at FEMCA Championships as well as a podium finish at the 2013 FEMCA EP Buggy Championships. Lehua has the following to say about the deal:

HB D815 optional clutch springs & hub carrier plates

HPI Racing have new optional parts for the HB D815 1/8th scale buggy available in the form of different clutch springs and rear hub carrier camber link plates. Starting with the clutch springs, beside the standard 1.0mm spring there are also softer 0.9mm and harder 1.1mm variants available to adjust the clutch engagement to your liking. Generally spoken a softer spring makes for earlier, low-RPM engagement while a harder spring results in higher-RPM engagement with the latter resulting in harder acceleration while a softer setting makes for a more controlled take-off.

Schumacher double joint drive shafts

Schumacher is pleased to announce their new Mi5evo Double Joint Drive Shafts, and super high quality Pro Ball Bearings. These new double joint drive shafts are made from super tough Spring Steel and are a replacement for the old G884 drive shafts. The new design is much stronger, less likely to bend or break in a hefty impact, and is of a higher quality.

Double joint drive shafts allow greater corner speed due to less binding and natural braking associated with regular universal joint drive shafts. This part also comes with a new high quality inner Pro ball bearing which is 3mm in width rather than the standard 4mm to allow the centre of the drive shaft to sit further into the hub carrier as close as possible to the steering pivot, for maximum efficiency.

It has a larger diameter for more strength which means it needs to be used with the new modified hub carrier which is supplied.

For the super serious racer always striving for the last 1/10th of a second Schumacher has introduced their range of Pro Ball Bearings. Firstly to fit in the micro caster block for the Mi5 and Mi5evo, these bearings significantly reduce the amount of play in this area. Secondly a Pro Bearing for axles/hub carriers, super high quality. And finally the replacement inner bearing for the new double joint drive shafts, high precision.

Bittydesign preview 1/8 lexan wing

Always ones keen on giving us previews of their as-yet unannounced products, Davide of Bittydesign brought with him a prototype version of their new 1/8 nitro buggy lexan wing – the company following the market trend which has seen many racers adopt the distinctive yet sponsor unfriendly lexan wings – used by the best in the business.
Whilst not the first lexan wing we’ve seen, Bittydesign have taken their time to study market demand especially with downforce in mind – market feedback suggesting that some of the wings already released produce too much resulting in a ‘parachute effect’, with holes & trimming required, hence Bittydesign’s continued R&D to find the ideal balance.

The wish being that racers should be able to simple use it ‘straight out of the package’ rather than tinkering and modding too much – ‘make it right the first time’.

As expected from a company located in Italy, the team have utilised several top Italian drivers to test the product as well as European top drivers, we’re told the final version can be expected around June and there will be a few differences to the prototype shown
.

The opening round of the Austrian 1/10th Off-road Nationals was held at the old school track of the SMRC Vienna club, a super slippery, bumpy and dusty affair whose layout offered good fun for most of the drivers thanks to difficult sections and lots of elevation changes. At the end of the weekend veteran racer Hupo Hönigl made the best out of the track conditions to take the wins in both the 2WD and 4WD classes.

Matias wins Portuguese Nats Rd.2

Round 2 of the Portuguese 1/8 Nationals was held this past weekend. Qualifying was dominated by Ricardo Monteiro, who captured the overall TQ after heat 1 and heat 2 victories. Varying weather conditions played a major role in car setup and racing for Sunday’s final. Monteiro would start second to Miguel Matias after the semi-finals. Matias left the line in first, never looked back, and began gapping the field. A late race flameout by Matias brought hope for Monteiro in second, however, even the mishap for Miguel was not enough to hand over the win. Miguel Matias would clinch the victory with Ricardo Monteiro second, and Nuno Rebelo third.
